W Is For Wanderer

I am not a wondering wanderer
Searching and questing and seeking
I was born with my North Star
Tied on a string to my wrist
My destination an absolute
I braved judgement and critiques
In this day and age my dream was less
But being a wife and mother
Is the life that glimmered and shined and beckoned.
I've sacrificed, forgone, and yielded,
And reaped the prize, the joy, the bliss
That only a life's goal can give.

This post inspired by prompt #4 at Mama's Losin' It! and the A to Z Challenge!

  1. I love this Michelle! Especially the North Star being tied on a string to your wrist. I think that may be my new favorite phrase!

  2. I second what Judy said - and wish I had that North Star! My life seems a bit more like a dot-to-dot, where I've had to follow my path without necessarily knowing what the final picture will be.

  5. I love this poetry challenge you're doing! And you're Wanderer poem lovely. I really like the line, "I was born with my North Star, tied on a string to my wrist." Amazing! Also, there's a lot of us who wish our North Star was so close at hand.

    1. Thank you! I have notebooks filled with teenager angst-y poems, and I shudder to read those now. I was hesitant to start as an adult, but am so I glad I have!

  7. There is such security in knowing who you are. I think it really does help you stay the course and not be battered about by changing whims.
