Sunday Morning Coming Down

There is just something about the sound of Johnny Cash drawling out the words to 'Sunday Morning Coming Down' that sets my toe to tapping and my voice to singing.  I know it's not a hymn, and it's more of a hangover song, but on Sunday mornings, I can't help but think of the song, and wish I had the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken.

Currently, I have the smell of an over full kitchen garbage.

It is exactly the wrong smell for this spring Sunday morning coming down.

I guess the rest of my day is going to be spent doing a bit of Sunday morning cleaning.....and that is soul satisfying for me.

  1. I don't know the Johnny Cash version, but my Gordon plays it occasionally on his guitar. I think it was written by Kris Kristofferson, yes?

    1. I don't know when I first heard Kris Kristofferson sing, because I feel like I've been a fan all my life. Then when I learned he wrote some of my all time favorite songs, I liked him even more (if that was even possible?)!

    1. If I didn't have steak thawed for the grill, I'd be having fried chicken tonight! Tomorrow for sure!

  3. I like Johnny Cash, saw his clothing in the Nashville Hall of Fame way back last year. Wonderful place.

Thanks for your visit and comment, Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees is in a coma very ill. He has Liver Cancer and Phuemonia, I am pleased I had that song for my M word.

    Yvonne.

    1. In all my cross country travels, I have missed Nashville. Hope to change that someday.

  5. Johnny Cash and fried chicken sounds like a perfect combination to me--and I'm a big Kris Kristofferson fan, he is truly multi-talented and highly underrated (but that may be the secret to his success--he's never been distracted by the outsized fame of some others).

On a less pleasant note, I truly hate getting up to an overfull garbage can--serious cranky making there.

    1. My childhood was cemented in the big after church dinner, but as a Mom, I tend to toss the kids a pb&j sandwich and cook the big meal in the evening!
