Out Damn Weeds!

I don't know where I was last summer, but I obviously was not taking care of my flower beds.   They are a disaster.  And that is not an exaggeration.

This is about 1/8 of the beds I have, but I can assure you, they all look like this.  I started trying to weed, but have ended up having to dig things up to get all the weed roots, and even then, I can tell it's a lost cause.

I'm half tempted to just let it go back to grass and have my husband run the mower over it.

Actually, with the way I feel about it right now, I'm way beyond half tempted to do that!

  1. You're not alone. Ours looked a lot like that until today, when hubby ripped everything out of them and covered the beds with mulch. :)

    1. Seriously tempting! As it is, I'm digging and replanting. If it doesn't survive, it wasn't meant to be!

  2. Maybe just restore half of them and let the other half go to grass? I'm not a gardener here so its always hard to know what the best thing is to do in cases like this.

    1. I was thinking I would let some go. I've been trying to dig them out for the last nine years, and every spring, it becomes clear grass grows there best!

  6. Oh, please persevere. When you get the pretty flowers in summer you won't be disappointed. Definately loose a couple of beds if it means saving some. (can you tell I like gardening?!?!?)

    1. I'm consolidating, that's for sure! I've got some lovely flowers I don't want to get rid of, so I'm going back to the drawing board and re-planning how the beds are. Thanks for the encouragement!
