L Is For Lisa

I was six years old when my youngest sister was born, and growing up, I'm ashamed to say I didn't have much use for a pesky baby sister.

But now that we are women, we joke that we are twins separated by six years, because not only do we look alike, we have lots of similar thoughts.  There are so many days we show up at work wearing almost the same outfit, color coordinating on accident!

We live down the street from each other and share the same obsession, er, I mean hobby: garage sale shopping.  We love to go out on a weekend and search for treasures.  Today is a big sale day and it's so big, she has gotten a babysitter and we aren't going to say the garage sale words in relation to where Mommy and Oh-Cho are going, because if we are big garage sale shopping nuts, her kids are even bigger ones!

We've been planning this day for months and the closer it's gotten, the more excited we've gotten.  I don't know about her, but I've got a huge selection of quarters and one dollar bills, burning a hole in my bag!

Let's get our sale on, Lisa!  It's going to be a great hunting day!

  1. I love garage sales. Yesterday, I saw my very first sign for a garage sale. It's a bit early, they usually don't start up until May, and considering that it was snowing yesterday, and we still have a ton of snow to melt, I thought those people were a bit crazy. But their bright lime green sign stuck out against the white snow pile behind it.

I don't know about you, but I prefer the snow to be ALL gone when I go to garage sales. :)

  2. How wonderful that you and your sister are so close! My little sister and I fought a lot as kids, but we're close now. I only wish we didn't live a thousand miles apart...

Have fun at the garage sales!

  3. I love finding treasures, too. I just don't like the haggling part - my husband takes care of that. Have fun with your sister today. Just as Dana mentioned, I really wish that my sister & lived closer to each other. Happy Saturday!

    1. My husband usually steps back and tells me it's my deal, haggle if I want to....sometimes I do, sometimes I don't!

  11. Jealous! I was thinking of both of you this week as there was an estate sale in my neighborhood. Wished it was a Friday you were both off and we could have gone together. Hope you had a great time today - and super excited for no kids while you shopped!

    2. Yes...I am not sure Edmonds is ready for the three of us, but ready or not...it's going to happen! Can't wait for my Fridays off and more time to spend together. Maybe we can even convince Mom to like garage sales! :)

  15. I never had a sister, now I have a sister in law and we don't always see eye to eye. I wish I had someone to go to yard sales and vintage shops. I tried it on my own and I have tried to lure MR BC and he is not interested.
