School's Out

Today was the last day of teaching Sunday School this year.

All I can say is, "Whew!"

I survived another year in grade Pre-K.  My creativity and patience were both wearing thin, and my desire to sit at an adult sized table was large.

And while I know right now I am ready for summer break, I also know that in August, I'll be looking for the sign up sheet, and asking for the same class again.

My husband thinks I'm nuts, and that might be true.  I do enjoy the time spent coloring, reading my favorite Bible stories and listening to little voices tell me "God" is the answer to everything.

  1. There is a special place in heaven for those that teach Sunday School, no matter what age! I'm humbled when I realize the impact my action and words have when teaching it or being involved in it on the faith of our precious little ones. It is often so frustrating, but so very much rewarding :) Good for you for doing it!

    1. Thank you! I've taught this age for years, and I am always touched when older kids I've taught tell me they remember my class. Do I remember them? Yes, I do.

  2. I love that last line. The reason I was a SS teacher myself. I miss it...

    1. Yesterday, the class dissolved into silliness and I thought it was a disaster. But when I held up a dove and asked the kids to remember what the dove represented in our story, they didn't shout out "God" like they usually do. They shouted "The Holy Spirit".....I almost fell off my chair in surprise. Obviously, not the disaster I'd thought it was!

    2. !!! Sometimes kids' learning process is so surprising. We think they're not listening when in reality, they're absorbing it all.

  5. I know how you feel, Michelle - I teach the 3 and 4 year olds in our church. Wow, they wear me out. But, they are so adorable and I love them to pieces!!

  6. My mom and I taught a Sunday school class years ago. I remember being worn out by the end of class, but oh, were those little kids a lot of fun!
