Snopes.com is your friend. Your lifeline phone call. You should use it before you send out emails warning of fake perfume salesmen who are going to drug you and kidnap you in the parking lot, or fake groups of pedophiles who want you to change your Facebook picture to a cartoon character.

Snopes.com is your detective. It hunts down the rumors of viruses, lost kids, giant beers, and urban legends, and reports if they are true or false. Or in some cases, unverified one way or the other.

My advise to everyone is before you send out notice to your friends that little Tommy Joe Joe is stuck at the bottom of the well and prayers and money are need to build a ladder to get him out, check out Snopes.

It will save you any ridicule I might be tempted to heap upon you.
