My Perfect Chocolate Cake

This is for Judy!  It's not a top secret family recipe, all though I did get it from my mother in law.....I hope it wasn't their family secret and now I just give it out willy nilly!

Preheat oven to 350.

Mix 2 3/4 cups flour, 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 6 Tbls baking cocoa powder, and 2 cups sugar.

Add 2 cups water, 10 Tbls oil (corn or veggie), and 2 Tbls white vinegar. Mix until combined.

Bake about 35 minutes in 2 greased round pans.

My only advice is do not taste the batter.  It is not an indication of how yummy the cake will be!

    1. Have you made the cake? Is this your reaction? Oh my ... I made brownies last night. They're gone now, so I might have to try this recipe!

  2. Thanks! My sister stopped by my house last night and found me standing at the counter, with a fork, eating bites right off the cake. It's that good. She said if she had that cake in her house, she'd be doing the same thing!

  3. Adding it to my to-try recipes. Have to admit, though, I am a compulsive batter taster so your advice is good to know. At least when I cave to the irresistible urge I will know not to judge the cake by the batter.

    1. It tastes terrible! The first time I made it, I tried a taste (it looks so yummy and no eggs!) and I was horrified. Maybe I'd done something wrong, it tasted so bad! Now I know, it's going to be all right, just resist the urge to taste test the batter!
