Snow Fall

Today the PNW is being hit with a snow storm, and like true Pacific North Westerners, we are all freaking out.  School is closed, cars are abandoned on roads, businesses are shutting down early so we can all be home before dark.

We have lots of snow in our yard, with more predicted to fall tonight and tomorrow.  I thought I'd find kids here building snowmen, but nope.  They have taken sleds and ventured off to the perfect sledding hills around town.  It's just me and  two of the dogs standing out in the deep snow (our older and wiser Beagle stayed inside near the heater).

It's still in that lovely stage, barely trampled, pristine white.  Is there anything cuter than dogs frolicking in snow?  Well, kids I guess, but since my kids are out of camera range, I settled for taking a few of the dogs.

  1. Those pups are adorable. We've been having a lot of snow too (as in actually having snow, apparently that's not common here). I'm loving it. Getting reminded of the East. (:
    Have fun!

    1. The fat, cotton ball snowflakes that fell this morning reminded me of driving in New Jersey....I wish the roads were like the East! I never had a lick of trouble driving back there.

  2. My husband is hoping school will be cancelled tomorrow - but in order to have a snow day it has to snow and it hasn't hit here yet :(

    1. I was positive we'd just have a 2 hour late start! But the roads in town are a mess and that usually decides it.

  3. Yes, the snow was supposed to start last night, but has not yet arrived. I would be perfectly happy to have it not, though I too have been posting photos of last year's snow, in the hope that I could fool Mother Nature into bypassing our spot; after all, I already have pictures.
What's the difference between the roads, Michelle? I drove on snow for the first time in 1972, while stationed in the Republic of Korea. Los Angeles boys do not get much practice driving in the white stuff.

    1. I think the East Coast is prepared for snow, while we are always hoping it won't happen here! I would drive our little Sprint everywhere in New Jersey winters, without chains or snow tires, and never slipped, skid, slid, or fishtailed. Here in our WA town, the streets are just one solid sheet of slick and I would rather walk!

  4. We've had very little snow this year. Really none that "stuck" until this past weekend. I was pretty sick of it three hours in. The dogs loved it, though. ;)

    1. Dogs and kids....and my husband who "loves" to drive in the snow (his word!) and me, who much prefers hot summer days, cold drinks with straws and a hammock!
