Tis The Season For Shedding

I know we have three dogs, and I know three dogs make three dog messes, but holy cow!  This last week has seen their shedding reach unbelievable proportions!

I swept on Friday and gathered enough fur to make a small dog.  On Saturday I brushed and bathed and brushed and brushed and brushed some more, and thought okay.  That might have helped the insane problem.

Nope.

I sat on the couch on Sunday morning, and fur was just drifting through the air.  It was on the rim of my coffee cup, it was on my eyelashes, it was settling onto my buttered toast.

More brushing happened, more sweeping and even vacuuming all the furniture and later that afternoon when my daughter was making home-made cinnamon rolls, she uncovered her rising rolls to discover dog fur on them too.

It is a very good thing I love dogs.  I could easily go bonkers trying to live through this season!

  1. I have enough dog hair around from just one dog. I can't imagine three! Good thing the shedding season is temporary. And why is it that brushing only seems to make things worse?

    1. Our Pom has never shed this much, little clumps of her fur are everywhere, until they join up with another clump and the next thing I know, a dog sized fur bunny is settling in under the couch.

    1. The first thing I saw when I got home from work is a giant fluffy ball of fur, rolling around until the table. It's not as much fun as it sounds!

    1. I still remember the first lines of the poem I wrote after my beloved dog Murphy died...17 years later, it is still one of my favorite pieces.

    1. Crazy mad for them, and I recently told my husband I will never be dog free again. He said he'll get a sidecar for the dog of our retirement years!

    1. A Boxer can't shed as much as a Pomeranian mix, can it? You'll be safe!

  7. I thought the title said, "sledding" and I couldn't figure out how it was even related to today! 1 dog is more then enough for me!

  8. *sigh* Hence the reason dad is against having dogs indoors. Three of us are allergic, so it actually makes sense. Unfortunately. Someday we'll have a yard big enough for a pup that can do all his shedding outside ... hopefully.

  9. I may have said this here before (because I think I say it A LOT). We have three dogs, too and considering how much hair is around, all the time, everywhere (though not, fortunately, on the buttered toast), I have NO IDEA how my dogs aren't bald. How can they lose so much and still HAVE so much?! It's crazy. :)
