How I Knew It Was Pouring

One of the last things I mumbled to my husband as I fell asleep last night was instructions for him to tell me if it was raining when he came in to kiss me goodbye in the morning.  I was already feeling lazy and if it was raining, I wasn't going to jump out of bed to walk the dogs.

At 5:15 this morning, I got up to tell him he didn't need to tell me that anymore.....

The soaking wet dogs that had scrambled under the covers had been answer enough!

It was pouring like you wouldn't believe, and the dogs turn into sponges when it rains, and I was cold and wet and kind of awake by the time they settled down, which of course, was curled as close to me as possible.

After awhile, body heat mingled and while we were all damp, at least the cold part was gone, and while I had thought I was wide awake (maybe I feel like that every morning?) I fell asleep and by the time my alarm sounded (not like music this morning, sadly!) we were dry-ish and energized.

The rain, however fell even harder and it the girls and I took one look outside and decided to skip the walk.  The girls returned to bed, snoozing as they waited for the breakfast bell, and I drank several cups of coffee as I watched the torrential downpour, glad that the dogs were not out in it again, soaking up water like Sponge Bob soaks up bubbles!

    1. Our river is super full right now, so we are all glad for the last couple days of sun and no rain!

  2. We got a hint of rain Monday evening, nearly an inch. It was nice in our drought conditions, but not enough.

    1. We've now had two days of sun, but the ground is still super wet. That's okay with me. I don't have to remember to water my garden!

  3. I love to stay in bed when it's raining. :-) The soggy dogs? Not so much. :-)

  4. At the moment where we are I think I would be more shocked if it was actually dry and sunny to the point I don't even ask my other half to let me know if it is raining in the morning as it usually is. But like you say, at least no watering of the garden required!
